Group Jansen takes over Sumi

News

Acquisition Sumi

From now on, the West Flanders-based firm Sumi will be part of Group Jansen. As an integrated construction organisation, Group Jansen has for years adopted a strategy focusing on diversification, innovation, industrialisation and niche identification. Sumi Smart & Connected Buildings from Kortrijk-Heule ranks number one in Belgium as an independent partner of large building managers and their contractors for building automation, with customers including Delhaize, Volvo Cars, Decathlon, Barry Callebaut, NMBS/SNCB and others.

“The construction sector is facing a major transformation. The acquisition of Sumi takes us out of our own comfort zone”, says CEO Nadia Jansen. “We are adding extra strength in the field of automation to our established names, including our project companies, our own sustainable products and our service operations. This new collaboration aligns perfectly with our vision to continue creating places to be in the future. Spaces where every user can function, live, recover and benefit to the full. In addition, the Sumi range in itself is an extra commercial asset for our construction group.”

Data for more sustainability and efficiency

“Building Automation involves automating, operating, controlling and optimising the technology in a building, such as electricity, lighting, sun blinds, gates, HVAC, access control, security and more. At Sumi, as one of Belgium’s leading independent co-integrators we go a step further”, says Sumi CEO Stef Vande Meulebroucke. “It’s quite simply next-level smart buildings. In our systems, we organise all the data in a secured parent platform. We manage these data fluently and link them to other data such as movement and/or occupation of a space. This allows the building owner or user to make significant progress as regards energy saving and storage, for example. It also substantially boosts more efficient maintenance, taking care of technical issues for non-technical staff and the user and customer experience.”

Innovation and industrialisation in the construction sector

“We are familiar with Sumi’s strong points thanks to previous collaborations. Their in-depth expertise, efficiency, no-nonsense approach and capacity for thinking out of the box are skyhigh. Their location is a useful plus, as well. Our new West Flanders connection allows us to further reinforce our position geographically”, Nadia Jansen adds.

The appreciation is mutual. Creative concepts, unique efficiency and an industrial approach characterise both our companies. In addition, we feel at home in their corporate culture which attaches such importance to the human aspect,” says Sumi CEO Stef Vande Meulebroucke.

“This new collaboration allows us to focus fully on innovation and sustainability in our projects, empowering our own staff and providing our customers with optimal service,” says Nadia Jansen. “Together with Sumi we are ready for the future!”
